Job Summary:
The Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) is seeking highly qualified instructors in ceramics to work at CSMA’s primary Finn Center site in Mountain View. This is a part time, non-exempt position and reports to the Visual Arts Program Manager.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Teach ceramics classes to students ages 18 and above, incorporating both handbuilt and wheel thrown techniques as appropriate.
Develop age and skill appropriate lesson plans that develop students’ skills, while providing a fun and creative environment for student growth.
Provide feedback to students throughout each lesson and recommend next steps in their art education.
Organize and prepare student work for firing and glazing.
Adhere to studio operational and safety protocols and guide students for safe participation in programs.
Communicate in a positive and consistent way with students, parents, and program and administrative staff.
Demonstrate a commitment to CSMA’s mission and values.
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Art or Art Education or equivalent experience.
Active working artist with local presence and established teaching track record, (ideal candidate has a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience).
Experience working in and maintaining ceramics studio protocols.
Ability to work with students of a wide variety of skills and backgrounds.
Well-developed classroom management and communication skills.
Highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills.
Competent computer skills, particularly MS Office and GSuite.
Physical Demands
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Schedule
Tuesday - 10:00 am to 12:30 pm - June 17 to August 5
Wednesday - 6:45 pm to 9:15 pm - June 18 to August 6
Saturday - 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm - June 14 to August 9 (no class July 5)
Job Type: Part-time, non-exempt
Pay Range: $35.00 - $38.00 per hour
